Coach Michele John Living the GT lifestyle is my day to day life, which is 180 degrees different than how I used to roll.  Now I rarely eat out at restaurants, because I have learned over and over again even the “cleanest” of restaurants still like to add in sugar, salt, and other things that […]

How I Roll With Stress – Jayne Ottman, RN MS

A couple of years ago I would have blown a gasket if I looked out and saw my yard flooding.  This morning I awoke to a lovely 4 inch pond of Snake River water covering my yard-over the well-head, my raspberry patch, the horseshoe pit and flowerbeds.  And it was steadily creeping into the fire […]

Well, another month has gone by.  Writing about my journey is going to be as much of a learning experience as actually living it, I think.  My weight hasn’t moved much this month.  I’m not upset by that because I did travel quite a bit and for a little over a week I had no […]

Simple Meditation: Sit comfortably in an upright but relaxed position. Close your eyes and bring your attention to your nostrils. As you breathe notice the subtle sensation of cool air passing into, and warm air passing out of, your nose. Without manipulating the breath, simply notice the sensation. Maintain your attention to every breath. Staying […]

This is a fantastic leg workout – specifically the quads and targeting that nice outer sweep of that muscle, which gives such great shape to the legs.  This workout can be done anywhere with only a 2 x 4 (or rock), dumbells, medicine balls (used here), rocks,  or kettlebells.  There’s a fun chest exercise in […]

EAT THIS: Roasted Bananas over Campfire

We love a campfire.  The camadarie, the warmth, the roasting of…BANANAS. Forget marshmallows.  When we roast something sweet over fire, we break off hunks of fresh banana, impale on a greenish stick, and roast…bonus?  They don’t catch fire!  They do toast up nice and brown.  The kids love them. (fresh pineapple, cubed, works great too!)

Sheri’s Rants # 52: The Moderation Myth

July 3, 2011

Moderation is a popular concept that has been promoted by the food industry. They had a slogan that went like this: “There’s room for all kinds of food in a healthy diet.” The promoted idea is that people can eat anything they want, as long as the foundation of the diet is healthy.  Unfortunately, what […]
