From Size 10 to Size 2 by dropping Cardio and Eating more food!
My journey with Genesis Transformation began in October of 2012 when I met my amazing coach Katie at school. At this time I weighed 150lbs, was a size 10, worked out 6 days a week, ate 1400 calories a day, had knee pain, and my stress levels were extremely high. I had been eating gluten-free and dairy-free for seven years so I thought that I ate really healthy. After talking with Katie about nutrition I learned how I was eating too much processed sugar. This is when I decided to give Genesis Transformation a try.
At first, I was very resistant with Katie about upping my calories and taking away cardio. Being someone who struggled with my weight my whole life and learning “calories in calories out” this really scared me. For the first two months of my process, I did nothing but talked negatively about my coach (who I love nowJ) but for some reason I trusted in her.
It took me about four months into my G.T. process to realize that I wanted more than just weight lose. I wanted overall health. I attended the Level 1 Mastery Program in February that truly helped me overcome how I deal with stressful situations. It helped me to understand that I only have control of my own actions and not others. I know it seems simple but this is something I struggled with. They helped me find the positive in any situation. After being introduced to journaling and meditation I find them both to be therapeutic.
Through this process I have had to deal with a lot of negativity from other people, including some loved ones. This was probably the hardest part of my process. People would give me a hard time about bringing my food with me places, eating healthy, feeding my son healthy and not giving him junk food. No matter where I went I heard at least one negative comment. I had to learn that these people really don’t have an issue with what I am doing but rather they have an issue with themselves. I still to this day have my family make comments when I am at a family function and I am eating differently or how I won’t let my son have a cookie. Because of meditation and journaling I am now able to let it go and not let it bother me. I am giving myself and my son a chance to live a long, healthy, happy life with no worries of disease or cancer.
My goal when starting with Genesis was to weigh 135lbs and lose inches in my hips and thighs. I never thought in a million years that I would ever achieve that goal. Today I am happy to say I weigh 123lbs, wear a size 2 pants, eat 2100 calories a day, strength train 3 days per week, my knee pain is gone and my stress levels are low. I have lost a total of 13 inches, 5 being in my hips and 3 in my thighs. I currently meditate 20 minutes a day and find myself dong random acts of kindness on most days. Genesis Transformation has changed my life for the better. I am truly grateful to have worked with Katie. It is now my time to pay it forward!
