Eat This: SMOOTHIES

Back to school and everyone’s on the move again!  Smoothies are an easy, nutritious, and balanced meal for on the run.  They don’t even need chewed!  Prepare ahead of time and keep them in the fridge or cooler.    Try adding a handful of spinach to berry smoothies for extra green benefits.  Substitute fresh hemp milk or GT’s omega milk for boxed almond milk in recipes below for extra health-giving benefits.  Using a good blender will make the assembly of smoothies a breeze and also contributes to the texture.  I recommend a Vita-Mix or Blendtec blender – you will NOT regret the expense.  Enjoy!

THE FOLLOWING RECIPES ALL SERVE ONE.

Orange Julius Smoothie

This is my absolute favorite smoothie! Easy and a great sensation for the taste buds.

Ingredients:

1 banana

1 scoop GT vanilla whey protein

1 orange

Instructions:

Put all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. No water needed if using fresh fruit.

Berry Good Pineapple Smoothie

A very satisfying fruit smoothie, and a good way to get some greens in.

.5 cup blueberries

1 scoop GT vanilla whey protein

4 oz fresh pineapple

1 cup spinach

1 cup strawberries

Instructions:

Put all ingredients in blender, add 1 tsp. vanilla and 3-4 drops of stevia (optional). Blend until smooth.

Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Easy and delicious.

1.5 cups almond milk, hemp milk or omega milk  (in Genesis recipes)

1 banana

1 scoop GT vanilla whey protein

1 cup strawberries

Instructions:

Process all in blender and enjoy!

Superperson Smoothie

Awesome pick me up.

.5 banana

1 TBS bee pollen

1 scoop GT vanilla whey protein

1 TBS hempseeds

1 orange

Instructions:

Put the hempseeds in the blender with 1/4 c water and blend on high until it resembles milk. Peel the orange and cut into quarters; dump into the blender. Peel the banana and put half of it in the blender. Add the protein powder and bee pollen. Add about 2/3 cup water; Blend.

Malted Hemp Shake

The hempseeds make this shake really creamy and good. Hempseeds are higher than flaxseed in good omegas, and are a rich source of protein as well. THIS TASTES LIKE A MALTED MILKSHAKE!

1 banana

1 scoop GT chocolate whey protein

2 TBS hempseed

Instructions:

Put the hempseeds and 3/4 c water in the blender, and blend on high until it looks like milk (under 30 seconds with a good blender). Add FROZEN banana and chocolate protein powder, Blend well. Should be thick and creamy, thin or thicken with the amount of water you add.

Fall Harvest Smoothie

Enjoy the fruits of fall with this smoothie.

8 oz frozen apple

1 scoop GT vanilla whey protein

1 cup cooked yam

1 tsp pumpkin pie spice

Instructions:

Blend it all, add water to desired consistency. The apples should be frozen!

Pumpkin Pie Shake

Reminds me of eating the filling of a pumpkin pie.  Scrumptious!

Ingredients:

1 cup hemp or almond milk

1 tsp cinnamon

.25 tsp ground cloves

1 tsp fresh ginger root

.25 tsp nutmeg

1 scoop GT vanilla whey protein

1 cup cooked yam

Instructions:

Process it in a good blender. Good room temperature or cold. add: cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice or cloves to taste and water to thin to desired consistency (will thicken) Use any type of milk, and any type of protein powder (vanilla flavored works best!)
