I grew up skinny!  It wasn’t until my late 20’s when I started to pack on the pounds.  Five here, ten there and soon I weighed 175 pounds.  During the 90’s I started walking and eating what I thought was a healthy diet.  I lost 40 pounds and swore I would never be fat again.  […]

To begin with, I will tell you all where I started.  I weighed in at almost 270 pounds, and had been diagnosed with Metabolic Syndrome and Fibromyalgia.  My doctor […]

Look Good Naked

Coach Courtney Townley It seems that there is no end to the things we as women will put on to help hide our true physical state, our nakedness; be it a bulky sweater to hide a bloated tummy, concealer to cover-up the dark circles under our eyes, heels to make our legs look longer/leaner, or an entire wardrobe of black clothes to make us appear slimmer.  Try as we might, conceal as we do, there will always be that moment at the end of the day, when the costume comes off, the face gets washed and for a second we stand naked….exposed to the reality of our genuine physical condition.   It is in this moment we either honor or deny our physical state; we celebrate or we retreat.   The Genesis Transformation process is ultimately all about getting our mind and body in a place where we can honor and celebrate our physical state in all of its naked glory. We introduce people to the Genesis Transformation process by way of “fueling” the body with lots of nutrient dense food.   The fueling process heals the metabolism and gets it primed for fat loss to occur.  One of the most important aspects of this phase is weight training because muscle mass is metabolically active tissue; and if muscle is healthy and abundant, the metabolism will work with all of the brilliance it was meant to. Muscle mass is highly demanding tissue in that it requires a lot of good clean energy and it MUST be used regularly to be maintained and to grow.  Weight training is vital to keeping muscle tissue happy and the metabolism functioning properly.   There is no way around this, ladies!  We have to FEED and USE muscle in order to lose fat healthfully and, at the end of the day, to LOOK GOOD NAKED. The work we do in the fueling process has a profound effect on how our body looks once we arrive at our goal weight.   If a client takes weight training seriously, training progressively andconsistently, they are far more likely to honor and celebrate their physical state when they arrive attheir goal weight than those who consistently resist integrating regular weight training sessions into their life.  The results of this approach are undeniable.  Take a look at the transformation page on the website….those are a bunch of well feed, regular weight training , lean machines who, no doubt, are able honor and celebrate the condition they are in.

To the Naked Eye

Coach Michele John For some strange reason, standing in front of a mirror and looking at my body naked is not such a big deal. However, what I recently confronted in myself was to truly stand naked with me.   By me, I mean Michele, the person.  The “40 something” woman, who is a mother of two, married for just shy of twenty seven years, and in some areas of my life I am a dynamo, powerhouse, and invincible.   However, as I really start getting deep into my own head work, which I know is a critical piece of a transformation,  that same woman, me, is terrified. I recently had a conversation with my coach.   She caught me off guard early in this talk and that made me go to a place that normally I can keep well concealed from the average person, including myself.  I have learned to conceal those fears and ultimately keep them covered by a protective layer of fat cells.  In my mind, these cells are my ‘safety net’.  What I mean is, if I fail in some way, if someone doesn’t like me, if I don’t meet someone’s expectations, or, and I realize this sounds harsh, but if someone doesn’t love me the way I believe they should, then I can blame any of those shortcomings on the grounds that I am just too fat and obviously unlovable or not smart enough. In my mind, if I am the best version of me which I see as extremely fit, having a low(er) body fat percentage, well defined muscles and a level of vibrancy that is undeniable, and if somehow I fail, it will be solely because of me. In all honesty, having no excuses scares the hell out of me.  I slept very little that night.  But the next morning, I woke up, head still grappling with what all of this means.   I know deep in my heart, that I have to face this fear head on and be 100% naked with it and me and then push past it.  I am embracing the knowledge that some of the greatest accomplishments in history evolved out of failure.  I am comfortable with change, now I am learning to become comfortable with my fears.

What’s it Like to Get Naked?

Coach Peggi Ingram No, I am not talking about naked as in no clothes (however anything is possible) – I am referring to putting ourselves, our fears, our doubts, and our beliefs to the test and working with a GT coach to reach our goals.  Going ‘naked’ is not easy for most of us.  We […]

Sheri’s Rants # 51: Appetite and Attitude

June 17, 2011 by

This remarkable article was sent to me by Liz H in California.  It is a MUST READ. In GT we encourage folks to switch from ‘poo’ – or processed food – to whole, real food.  We get a lot of whining about how folks ‘miss gourmet food’ and have cravings for something ‘substantial’ – which […]

Alice, California Hi Alice, Yes.  The ingredient you mention is soy lecithin which acts as an emulsifier.  An emulsifier is needed […]
