Woohoo! Second trimester and I’m feeling great! It’s week 16 and baby is making its presence well-known. My belly has popped out even more and I’ve started to feel those little kicks and punches that will only grow stronger over the next weeks. This is such an exciting time in my pregnancy and I’ve found […]

“Give me liberty, or give me death” Patrick Henry I realize this quote is a bit dramatic. But for me, it symbolizes that if I didn’t become liberated from my addiction to junk food, diet and faux health foods that the line “give me death” would be happening far sooner that it should. While […]

I decided to look over the personal goals I had written back in June of 2000 and thought it interesting to share. It was significant because I was designing my own health-based education practice at that time, eliminating careers that had served me well but had run their course and moving to a more suitable […]

Coach Courtney Townley It seems that there is no end to the things we as women will put on to help hide our true physical state, our nakedness; be it a bulky sweater to hide a bloated tummy, concealer to cover-up the dark circles under our eyes, heels to make our legs look longer/leaner, or an entire wardrobe of black clothes to make us appear slimmer. Try as we might, conceal as we do, there will always be that moment at the end of the day, when the costume comes off, the face gets washed and for a second we stand naked….exposed to the reality of our genuine physical condition. It is in this moment we either honor or deny our physical state; we celebrate or we retreat. The Genesis Transformation process is ultimately all about getting our mind and body in a place where we can honor and celebrate our physical state in all of its naked glory. We introduce people to the Genesis Transformation process by way of “fueling” the body with lots of nutrient dense food. The fueling process heals the metabolism and gets it primed for fat loss to occur. One of the most important aspects of this phase is weight training because muscle mass is metabolically active tissue; and if muscle is healthy and abundant, the metabolism will work with all of the brilliance it was meant to. Muscle mass is highly demanding tissue in that it requires a lot of good clean energy and it MUST be used regularly to be maintained and to grow. Weight training is vital to keeping muscle tissue happy and the metabolism functioning properly. There is no way around this, ladies! We have to FEED and USE muscle in order to lose fat healthfully and, at the end of the day, to LOOK GOOD NAKED. The work we do in the fueling process has a profound effect on how our body looks once we arrive at our goal weight. If a client takes weight training seriously, training progressively andconsistently, they are far more likely to honor and celebrate their physical state when they arrive attheir goal weight than those who consistently resist integrating regular weight training sessions into their life. The results of this approach are undeniable. Take a look at the transformation page on the website….those are a bunch of well feed, regular weight training , lean machines who, no doubt, are able honor and celebrate the condition they are in.

There’s a lengthy, predictable list of excuses that folks present to me about why they can’t do certain things regarding their self care. Among them are genetics, low thyroid, too busy, and it takes too much attention. Another myth is that a person can’t possibly travel or vacation and keep the self care up. Below […]
