“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what you have into enough, and more.” -Melody Beattie.
This September I will turn 40 and I am immensely grateful to feel better than I have ever felt in my entire life!! Who could have imagined one could feel better at 40 years young than at 20 years old? Well it is true and I have an incredible amount of gratitude for my body and health.
I want to share a really incredible experience I had in May that confirmed the results I have received from taking care of me. I had an appointment with Dr. Kalsang Wangyal, a Tibetan Doctor who was here in the Flathead Valley for a couple of weeks seeing patients. I heard about his arrival and read that he was trained by the Dalai Lama’s own physician. Dr. Kalsang is a student of the Dalai Lama’s and was advised by the Dalai Lama personally to become a Doctor. I was fortunate to hear and see the Dalai Lama speak in Seattle in the spring of 2008. Listening to his message and being in his presence impacted me greatly so I felt drawn to go see and meet Dr. Kalsang while he was here.
During my appointment Ani Tsering Wangmo, a beautiful Tibetan Nun was there to assist Dr. Kalsang with his translations. He did not ask me any questions to make his diagnosis. His diagnosis was done by listening to my pulse and then tasting my urine on his tongue! Yes, you heard me right…….I was asked to bring a sample of my first urine of the day so that he could taste it. He stepped away and did this in private and then returned a few minutes later to tell Ani Tsering my diagnosis. She shared with me that what he had discovered was that I was very, very lucky to be so HEALTHY!!
They both continued to stress to me how fortunate I was to have such good health because this was NOT typical of what they had been seeing in most Americans since their arrival in the U.S. They told me that since being in the U.S. they have seen an incredible amount of horrible sicknesses. Mostly cancer but also diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and much more. Most everyone they had seen thus far had been quite sick and not experiencing the blessings of good health. Ani Tsering stated that in Tibet they don’t see these diseases and they have been amazed how rampant they are here in the U.S. It appeared truly mind boggling to them both how unhealthy and ill most Americans currently are. They both expressed their concern and belief that these diseases are a result of all of the chemicals Americans physically put on their bodies (from lotions, make-ups, deodorant, etc.) and in their mouths (from highly processed and non-organic foods).
The Dr. did give me a couple of herbs before my departure that were from the Himalaya Mountains that would assist in bringing more fire to my digestive system. “Very minor tune up for you..you are very, very healthy.” he said with his lovely accent and in his best English.
I am filled with gratitude everyday for what Genesis has given my body, mind, and spirit. I feel deeply appreciative to be healthy and to feel BETTER than I have ever felt in my entire life physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually!!! I remind myself daily to thank my body for allowing me to be so active hiking mountains, running, training hard several times a week, keeping up with my 8 and 6 year old wonderful sons, and much more but especially for the ability to enjoy this high level quality of life that I am blessed to experience each and every day!! I am also very grateful for the knowledge I have received about health and fitness on this journey because I am able to share this with my family, friends, and children as well! Gratitude, Gratitude, Gratitude, you can never have too much!!!
Blessings of good health to you all!!!
