Thanksgiving Day Survival Tips

zzthanksgivingThanksgiving is just around the corner and I want to give you some tips for how to eat/drink for the day.

1. Eat breakfast and lunch if your dinner is later. If your dinner is earlier – plan to eat a healthy dinner too. Don’t plan on just eating this one meal for the day. This will keep you from over indulging and potentially eating not so healthy stuff.

2. Drink plenty of water that day before and after. Maybe even more than you normally do as the turkey and many of the recipes are laden with lots of salt.

3. Make a plan for Friday – have healthy foods available to get back on track right away. For me I send the food home with everyone so I don’t have the unhealthy in the house. Every moment we have a choice to eat well or not so well.

4. Stay Present! I learned recently when I am having trouble staying present to bring my mind back to the Task at hand. So if this is meditating – I repeat – ‘sit and breathe’. If I am driving and my text goes off – ‘concentrate on driving’. If I am talking to another and the mind wanders – ‘pay attention’. This has been very helpful for me.

5. Breathe!! Enjoy!!
